The ‘For Deeper Reflection’ Notes

  • Here are some of the Bible passages that helped me visualize my successful future, and build confidence during the trying times of my entrepreneurial journey. Perhaps they will be a source of strength, hope and help for you too:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
    - Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.”
    - Exodus 14:14 (AMP)

“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
    - Matthew 21:22 (NKJV)

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping...and Abraham’s faith did not weaken...Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises.”
    - Romans 4: 18-21 (NLT)

“...Believe in the Lord your God and you will be able to stand firm.”
    - 2 Chronicles 20:20 (NLT)

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
    - Habakkuk 2:3 (ESV)

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
    - Proverbs 23:7

They enabled me to accomplish seemingly impossible feats, through the grace, power, and presence of God during my entrepreneurial journey. Perhaps they will prove to be a source of encouragement and strength for you too:

“Be it unto you according to your faith.“
    —Matthew 9:29

“Anything is possible if a person believes.”
    —Mark 9:23 (NLT)

“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
    —Mark 11:24 (NLT)

“Then Job answered the Lord and said: I know that you can do all things and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
    - Job 42: 1-2 (ESV)

“So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as He said.”
    - Acts 27:25 (NLT)

“And this is the confidence we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.”
    - 1 John 5: 14-15 (ESV)

  • According to the American Psychological Association, chronic stress—defined as a consistent sense of feeling pressure and overwhelm over a sustained period of time—is a growing public health crisis. High stress levels impact the daily lives of men, women and children, and can disrupt every aspect of our lives including relationships, finances, our level of productivity and even our ability to achieve success.

Interestingly enough, one of the best solutions to address chronic stress was given to us by God — the Sabbath, or Saturday—which is a weekly day of rest. Most major religions call for a day of rest and from Genesis to Revelation, the importance of this day has been well documented in the Bible.

This day allows you to pull away from the hustle and bustle of your schedule, and will do wonders to help you recharge and refocus, allowing you to bring your best to your business during your work week, and balance to your life overall.

Here are some passages of scripture that refer to the Sabbath throughout the Bible:

    - Genesis 2:1-3
    - Exodus 20:8-11
    - Leviticus 23:3
    - Isaiah 56:1-2, 6-7
    - Isaiah 58:13-14
    - Ezekiel 20:19-20
    - Luke 4:16
    - Luke 23:52-56
    -
    Acts 17:2
    - Revelation 1:10
    - Revelation 22:14 (NKJV)
